The ride of my life :Chapter 3 : Delhi and Agra

So while in Delhi , I met Deepak Sharma again as we had planned to enjoy the “Old Delhi Food”. So one fine day I met him at Chandni Chowk metro station and went around the following places one after another 😅.

It was – kake Di Hatti > Giani’s Kulfi>Amrissari Lassi Wala at Chandni Chowk, then Kuremal Mohan Lal Kulfi Wala where we had sweet and salt Kulfi, never knew something like this ever existed 😅

After this headed to Cannaught place where we had Rajma chawal at Dhaba Food, Shankar road then famous Keventer’s milk shake @A block inner circle ( this Keventer is different then the one which is available in mall etc).

After this we went for a Qawwali session in central park organised by Delhi govt. What an amazing experience there… Headed back to our places from here.

Qawwali session

The next few days spent in Delhi, meeting my relatives and school friends.

On one of the Sunday ,planned my ride to Agra with my nephew Bhavya Handa. He have a Harley Davidson 750 bike. So on given Sunday… Due to unexpected rain the start got little delayed. Anyways … Delhi has good roads and in no time I was at this Yamuna expressway… And was pleasantly surprised to see Suzuki hayabusa riders club. There must be close to 20 bike and together making very loud exhaust sound. Music to ears I say 😊.

There were enough well planned restaurants on the way… Stopped for breakfast and started the journey again. We were in Agra by 12 noon and after spending two hours in Taj Mahal we started our journey back.

The average speed we covered was 80 Kms per hour but on return at one Stacy I even touched 155 Km’s/ hour.

Finally by 5.30 we were back in Delhi and it was a nice ride.

Penukonda Hill Ride: A Quick Mountain Escape

Penukonda Hill offers a quick, scenic escape for bikers. The roads leading up to the hill are in excellent condition, making for a smooth and enjoyable ride.

While there are a few restaurants along the way, most of them seem to open later in the day, so be prepared to fuel up before your ascent.
Thankfully, I managed to find a decent South Indian restaurant at Big Bay, a convenient highway pitstop. The climb itself isn’t overly challenging, and the summit is reached relatively quickly.
The Summit Experience:
Unfortunately, there isn’t much to see or do at the top of Penukonda Hill. The view isn’t particularly spectacular, and there are limited amenities.
The Return Journey:
With the ride up and the summit exploration completed, I was able to make the return journey from Yelahanka in a reasonable 5 hours, including a leisurely breakfast break.
Overall:
Penukonda Hill is a good option for a short, scenic motorcycle ride. The well-maintained roads and quick ascent make it a convenient choice for a day trip. However, don’t expect a thrilling summit experience. It’s more about the journey than the destination.

Bangalore to Anaikatti: A Biker’s Odyssey
A thrilling journey through scenic landscapes and bustling cities
On the crisp morning of October 28th, 2024, I embarked on a thrilling motorcycle journey from Bangalore to Anaikatti. With the sun rising, I set off at 5 AM, eager to explore the winding roads and picturesque landscapes that lay ahead.
The First Leg: Bangalore to Krishnagiri
My first pit stop was at the renowned Murugan Idli in Krishnagiri, a mere 105 kilometers from home. The delectable masala uttapam and Madurai halwa were the perfect way to fuel up for the long ride ahead.

The Road to Anaikatti
The journey to Anaikatti was a mix of smooth highways and challenging diversions due to ongoing bridge construction. The roads leading up to Coimbatore were a biker’s dream, offering a thrilling blend of curves and straights. However, the city traffic proved to be a bit of a nightmare.

After Coimbatore to Annaikatti

Once I crossed the Tamil Nadu border, the road conditions deteriorated slightly, especially in the final 15 kilometers leading to Kerala. Despite the minor road imperfections, the scenic beauty of the Western Ghats compensated for any discomfort.
A Comfortable Stay at Sterling Anaikatti
Upon reaching Anaikatti, I checked into the Sterling Anaikatti hotel.

The staff was incredibly welcoming and polite, making my stay comfortable and enjoyable. While the hotel’s food was a bit on the pricier side, the overall experience was positive.

The Return Journey: A Test of Patience
The next morning, I started my return journey at 6 AM to avoid the notorious Coimbatore traffic. I fueled up with Shell V-Power petrol in Coimbatore and continued my ride, stopping for a hearty breakfast at Arukkaniyammal mess.

Unfortunately, the return journey was marred by numerous diversions and slow-moving traffic due to ongoing highway work. Despite these challenges, I persevered, eventually reaching Bangalore by 2:30 PM.
Reflections on the Journey
This motorcycle trip to Anaikatti was a truly unforgettable experience. The stunning landscapes, the thrill of the open road, and the warm hospitality of the people made it a memorable journey. While the traffic in Coimbatore and the road conditions in Kerala were minor setbacks, they did not dampen the overall experience.
I hope this blog post inspires you to embark on your own motorcycle adventures. Remember, the journey is as important as the destination. So, gear up, hit the road, and explore the world on two wheels!

Dakshina Bharata Bike Trip

The Route of close to 2000 kms we covered in 6 days…

Bangalore to Madurai: 453 Kms – 8 Hrs 30 Mins

We 3 started on 2 Triumph Tiger and one Kawasaki Vulcan from Bangalore at 5.30am for our first Destination – Madurai. We first stopped for breakfast at Murugan Idli Shop, Krishnagiri. By no means its a shop. Its huge with ample parking and lip smacking South Indian food. Don’t miss it next time you are passing by Krishnagiri, Tamilnadu.

We did stop in between for Hydration Break and finally reached our destination around 2.30 pm. We took some rest and went to one of the famous eatery in Madurai for lunch. Then we went to Famous Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple . It was super crowded and long queue.

Meenakshi Amman Temple

Meenakshi Amman Temple

Madurai to Rameshwaram – 175 Kms – 2 Hrs 45 Mins

We Started around 7 From Madurai as it was raining , once rain stopped, we started for our destination. Regretfully, One of the biker had to go back due to family emergency. After coming out of Madurai, the road was good and our hotel was on the main highway, after taking a quick Breakfast Break, we reached Rameshwaram quite easily. The trouble started from there to reach Dhanushkodi

Rameshwaram to Dhanushkodi & Back – 40 Kms – 50 Mins

The trouble started from there to reach Dhanushkodi… it was super crowded and crossing the Pamban Bridge was a challenge as people parked their vehicles on both side of the bridge. Once we reached Dhanushkodi, we were surrounded by curious and bike loving people, hence seeing the crowd , we felt its important to leave immediately, we hardly spent 15 mins there.

Dhanushkodi – 26.12.2022

Expecting the same crowd at Rameshwaram temple, we were forced to skip the visit to the temple.

Rameshwaram to Kanyakumari – 310 Kms – 5 Hrs 30 Mins

We started around 9 from Rameshwaram after breakfast at hotel. It was a smooth ride except at one place , one of the villager carrying wood and with pillion rider hit my saddle bag, guess he was drunk but surely over speeding. Once we entered Kanyakumari, we faced huge traffic jam to reach to the hotel. Once there , it was struggle to park or horses but we managed to find one place given by the hotel. We wanted to take the sea ferry but the queue was too long and and 4pm they close the ticket window. hence after standing for one hour in the queue, we didn’t get the chance to reach ticket window. But we still walked around and enjoyed the sea view.

Kanyakumari Beach

Kanyakumari to Cochin – 290 Kms – 8 Hrs

We were very excited about this ride as it was next to the sea shore, see the map.

But our excitement was short-lived as this road was pretty bad… or say worse? It was like riding for 8 hours on a Chock-A-Block road, imagine riding for 8 hours on Bangalore ring road which is full of vehicles, Diversions, broken and small roads. Surprisingly people don’t follow traffic rules and we have to save ourselves on the road. Frankly, after completing the ride, wished we could have avoided the route. Anyways, we took couple of hydration break in between as it was hot too. Finally we reached Cochin post afternoon.

What we missed in Kanyakumari , we managed to get it in Cochin. The Sea Ferry. We took an Auto to this point to catch ferry and we reached a popular place called Fort Street. We had amazing food there and the whole atmosphere was very lively.

Fort Street

Cochin to Coimbatore – 190 Kms – 4Hrs 30 Mins

We started after breakfast at hotel, we only took one Hydration break before we reached Coimbatore. Although we were prepared for bad roads, surprisingly, the highway was quite good. Even the home stay was spacious and comfortable. We took quick shower and went for lunch… it was close by and we decided to walk… and it was hot weather. We had lip smacking Biryani at a super crowded and famous place.

SS HYDERABAD BIRYANI, Coimbatore

After taking some rest in the afternoon, We went to Famous Isha Foundation. The experience and the whole vibes in that place was a lifetime experience. Thankfully we were on the bike otherwise there was a long four wheeler queue to enter inside.

Isha Foundation, Coimbatore

After the long ride in the croded streets of Coimbatore. We reached Our homestay . We ordered dinner on Swiggy and after that went to bed.

Coimbatore to Bangalore – 380 Kms – 6 Hrs 30 Mins

We decided to leave early to avoid Coimbatore city traffic. and hence we managed to complete the ride in 6 hours and 30 minutes. Credit to the highway which was butter smooth. In between took break for tea and later for breakfast at Murugan Idli. There I met few more bike enthusiast.

So this Sums up ‘Dakshina Bharata’ Road Trip. 25th-30th Dec 2022

Bangalore To Mangalore Ride Statistics

Bangalore to Mangalore Ride Statistics (I do this also for my future reference):

822 Total trip Kilometres.

378 one way… 8.30 hours Bangalore – Mangalore and 7.15 hours on return from Mangalore to Bangalore ( left early, reached in afternoon, faced no peak hour traffic in Bangalore City)

Followed my habit of riding for 150 kms or two hours non-stop whichever is early.

Tried going to Bekal Fort which is in Kerala, just 55 kms from Mangalore… Rode for 25 kms and turned back mid way as the complete Highway was crowded and under road widening/ construction.

Avoid Shirdi Ghat Highway as it’s under repair/ widening ( as always 😅) hence took route via Belur… Decent road, glad I took this route.

Average per Kms improved of Kawasaki Vulcan from 19 kms/litre to 21 Kms/Litre after i did this –
